This is a list of currently designated RIG sites within the Tees Valley district and shown on the map (above). Sites shown in RED exist on private land and have no public access.

Hartlepool

  • H1 – Crimdon Dene.
  • H2 – Whelly Hill.
  • H3 – Naisberry Quarry.
  • H4 – Hartlepool Headland.
  • H5 – Dalton Piercy.
  • H6 – Long/Little Scar.

Stockton-on-Tees

  • S1 – Barwick Quarry (Sandstone).
  • S2 – Barwick Quarry (Whinstone).
  • S3 – River Leven.
  • S4 – Stainsby Beck (Mercia & Whinstone).
  • S5 – Gravel Hole.

Redcar & Cleveland

  • RC1 – Coatham Rocks.

There are currently no designated sites in the Middlesbrough area. Sites in Darlington are currently being assessed and will be added in due course.
